The primary purpose of the Strategic Information Technology Committee (SITC) is to provide strategic leadership, oversight, and governance for the University's Information Technology landscape.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Strategic Alignment: Ensuring IT strategy and investments are fully aligned with the University's overarching strategic plan, mission, and vision across all core activities (teaching, learning, research, and professional services).
- Policy & Governance: Reviewing and recommending IT policies and policy changes, standards, and frameworks to the University Executive (UE); ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., GDPR, cybersecurity regulations) and best practices.
- Investment & Resource Allocation: Providing strategic direction and oversight for significant IT investments, major projects, and resource allocation, ensuring value for money and optimal utilisation of IT assets. Agreeing the proposed allocation of Portfolio project spend across the Research, Learning, Teaching &, Student Experience, Professional Services and Digital Infrastructure, Cyber and Web portfolios within delegated authority limits.
- Efficiency and Quality; underpinning the University's Strategic Plan and related strategies by proposing principles, initiatives, policies and programmes that leverage IT to drive University efficiency and quality.
- Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating IT-related risks, with a particular focus on cybersecurity, data integrity, and business continuity.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the overall performance, effectiveness, and impact of IT services and initiatives against agreed strategic objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Innovation & Future Trends: horizon scanning for emerging technologies and digital trends that could benefit or impact the University, recommending appropriate adoption strategies.
