1. To implement and develop College research strategy in the light of the University?s Strategic Plan
2. To encourage the development of a dynamic research culture, in particular by informing Schools of initiatives to develop multi-disciplinary research activities
3. To advise on the provision of researcher development training to support the research careers of all staff
4. To facilitate participation in research for appropriate staff, and to foster support for research by students at all levels
5. To consider the implications of policies existing or being developed elsewhere in the University and to counteract possible negative impacts on research activities
6. To aid Schools to address workload and time allocation for staff so that research receives its proper share
7. To draw the attention of the College P&R Committee to key research issues and possible future priorities
8. To develop an internationalisation agenda in relation to research
9. To support peer review, in particular in response to the needs of external funds, and to monitor applications for research funding and research activity in Subject Areas
10. To review documentation for REF2014
11. To support the review of the operation of Research Centres and Institutes, receiving a report each year from Schools
12. To ensure effective promotion of the College?s knowledge exchange and impact capabilities
13. To support the delivery an effective plan for REF2014
14. To keep under review the external presentation of research and research outcomes, through websites and other dissemination activities within the College
