Purpose of the Committee
The College Student Staff Liaison Committee is a place for student representatives across the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine to raise items impacting their experience and share feedback with the College. Feedback can relate to any aspect of student experience. Student representative members cover all taught (undergraduate and taught postgraduate) provision.
Remit
To raise feedback with the College related to student experience. Feedback raised and discussed at the College SSLC should reflect issues that sit outside Schools/Deaneries rather than programme-specific issues. The SSLC is an opportunity to discuss issues that require escalation from Schools because they are issues that impact the student experience across the College.
To provide an opportunity for Student Representatives to share best-practice from Schools/Deaneries and to discuss what works well so that we can identify opportunities to share across the College.
To discuss issues and potential solutions proactively with key College and University staff. The vision for the CSSLC is to be solution-focused where possible and it is important that Student Representatives are able to bring ideas about solutions to issues that are discussed so that we can understand what might work best for students.
Operation
The College Student Staff Liaison Committee will meet once per semester in person with hybrid facilities via Microsoft Teams to ensure accessibility to students across all CMVM campuses and students who study online.
An informal session will be scheduled ahead of the main meeting each semester to inform agenda planning.
A Microsoft Teams site will be set up as a place for student representatives to raise issues and agenda items between meetings and to track actions and provide updates.
