The remit of CEC is:

 

  1. To develop and coordinate the implementation of College education strategies and policies, providing a forum to make collective decisions, establishing a College position as necessary.

  2. To have oversight of teaching and assessment pedagogy and practice, including assessment and feedback, curriculum innovation, online learning and other factors that determine the quality of our educational portfolio.

  3. To promote understanding and enhancement of diversity in curriculum content, assessment practice, attainment, retention and progression;

  4. To explore disciplinary and interdisciplinary pathways and progression, supporting lifelong learning in line with the University's Strategy 2030;

  5. To share and promote initiatives relating to student experience, student voices and sense of belonging;

  6. To have oversight of the training and development for teaching and teaching support staff;

  7. To receive and consider reports from subgroups, forums, networks and working/task groups and other committees as relevant and appropriate. Consider those reports and wider developments in the university and beyond in setting strategic learning and teaching priorities for the College and making formal recommendations to the College Executive Group;

  8. To provide a link between Senate Committees and close interaction with equivalent learning and teaching committees in Colleges of Science and Engineering (CSE) and Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), facilitating consultation, engagement and reporting to and from these committees and across the Colleges.
