The Biomedical Sciences Teaching Management Executive (TME) acts as a forum for the development of the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences teaching policy and strategy. The remit covers undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes and courses.  The group is convenved by the Director of Teaching and reports as appropriate to the Dean of Biomedical Sciences, the Board of Studies, the Learning and Teaching Committee and the MSc Executive.  The TME also considers and makes decisions on academic student matters such as transfer requests, concessions and interruptions of study.  The Teaching Management Executive will:
  • Formulate and drive forward policy and strategy related to the undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching within Edinburgh Medical School: Biomedical Sciences.  The TME will produce outline policy documents to be considered, developed and finalised by the Deanery Learning and Teaching Committee and/or MSc Executive as appropriate
  • Consider and respond to porposals to introduce processes that recognise teaching delivery, assessment and teaching-related responsibility to ensure equity in allocation of teaching duties
  • Consider and carry out thematic reviews on student feedback (e.g. NSS, PTES, SST/SSO Surveys)
  • Discuss and develop policy regarding the student support in the Deanery, including the Personal Tutor scheme, Personal and Professional Development Portfolios
  • Oversees UGT/PGT admissions and recruitment strategy and initiatives
  • Discuss and oversee teaching resource and budgets, including equipment costs
  • Devise policy and a framework relating to student admininstrative matters such as progression, concessions and transfer requests
  • Ensure that University and College regulations and rules are disseminated and adhered to
